The Parish of St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School Brighton-Le-Sands was proclaimed in November 1937. The foundation stone for a new combined school and church was laid on the Feast of Christ the King, 30 October 1938, by Archbishop Norman T. Gilroy. The building was completed in 1939 and the Sisters of Charity began conducting classes at St Thomas More’s until they withdrew from the school at the end of 1985 and the following year the Catholic Education Office appointed a lay principal.
St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School continues to live by the charism of the Sisters of Charity. The Sisters of Charity motto ‘Caritas Christi urget nos’ (The love Christ urges us on) inspires us as a school community to service with justice, love and truth seeing Christ in all things. As a school community we continue to foster strong relationships with the Sisters of Charity, celebrating our founders day annually and awarding worthy recipients with the Mary Aikenhead Award.
Inspired by the teaching of St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School Brighton-Le-Sands and the charism of the Sisters of Charity, we are called to serve with justice, love and truth, seeing God in all things.
Celebrate Faith: We celebrate our faith, embracing our Catholic identity, giving witness to the person of Jesus Christ and proclaiming the Word of God.
Value Knowledge: We value knowledge and high quality education in a dynamic learning environment which develops the full potential of all.
Promote Justice: We promote justice, respecting the human dignity of each person.
Inspire Hope: We inspire hope as messengers of Jesus Christ, continuing his mission in our world
Our school community works in partnership with our Parish Priest, Father Manuel Santiago, we aim to support parents in their responsibility as first educators of their children in faith. The school strives to create strong links with the parish by encouraging families to be involved in sacramental and liturgical celebrations throughout the year.
